AUN-BE has been a medium of cooperation and collaboration both in academic and non-academic in business and economics fields for 18 years in which the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is conducted annually.
The 18th Annual General Meeting AUN-BE was held in Burapha University (BUU) on the 11th to 12th of July 2018. The meeting aimed at strengthening the AUN-BE networking framework and it will involve indispensable discussion regarding the AUN-B E future activities including digital economy, education 4.0, financial technology, internal updates, strategic direction, and milestone of regional master’s program.
The meeting was opened by a speech from Dr. Eko Suwardi, M.Sc. as the Chairman of AUN-BE. He mentioned in his speech that FEB UGM, as the AUN-BE Secretariat, was pleased to cordially invite representatives from AUN-BE Member Universities to attend the ASEAN University Network for Business and Economics Annual General Meeting every year. For this meeting, there were two different sharing agendas both from best practitioner followed by discussion for each topic, including Quality Assurance and Curriculum, Publication among AUN-BE members, Industry Immersion and Internationalization Program, and Income Generation. The event was followed by a Cultural Night and Gala Dinner agenda to strengthen the bonds between member universities. The final session of the meeting was filled by welcoming several universities as new affiliate members, namely Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Lampung and Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret from Indonesia, and International University of Malaya-Wales from Malaysia.

With supports and sincere collaboration initiatives among our institutions, I have strong confidence that we will be able to develop stronger bond between AUN-BE members. We believe that you will find a stimulating program with a broad spectrum of sessions on critical important topics in our field.”, said Dr. Eko Suwardi, M.Sc. as the Chairman of AUN-BE, in his speech at the 18th Annual General Meeting AUN-BE.
Previously in 2017, the partner universities agreed to strengthen the faculty mobility and student exchange program in ASEAN region, and one of the strategic vehicle to reach this goal is by initiating a regional MBA program. Currently the secretariate are preparing a milestone to realize this initiative and will be discussed further in our meeting today. In addition, the partners agreed to prepare products which bring high internal and external impact, by publishing the AUN-BE Case Compilation Book, which by the end of May 2018, we have 7 cases to be published. Yet, there is still the absence of publication outlet or sponsor to publish this case.
Moreover, there are several events organized by members that has a support from AUN-BE. For instance, lately in this year, the AUN BE secretariate held a short academic program namely International Week 2018 on July-August. With the main topic of ASEAN Business Environment, International Week 2018 could be adapted as faculty vehicle program or student exchange program among members. No less than 80 participants from ASEAN and other countries gathered in Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Yogyakarta for iWeek 2018. We also invited lecturers from AUN-BE members. Prof. Prem Shamdasani from National University of Singapore, Dr, Kanis Saengchote from Chulalongkorn University and Dr Patrick Caoile from De La Salle University.
